I have to admit that I was thinking about Omega Weapon all through the trip. I didn't carry any Holy War or Holy War-trial. These are so decisive to the battle that there is no way I can defeat Omega Weapon without having them. Since I cannot go back to get these two items after I entered the Ultimacia's castle, I decided to fight Omega Weapon anyways.
At first my party cannot survive the first round of his attack. I cannot see any progress after I tried several times. Omega Weapon keeps casting his fatal magic to my party that none of my GFs is of any use. Omega Weapon absorbs most magic including Holy, so you should be cautious when you summon your GFs. Once I summoned GF Alexander. First I saw him survived Omega Weapon's Medigo Flame attack. But then I found his Holy Judgement caused no damage to the nut. It was like from heaven to hell.
Following is a description of the battle in which I defeated Omega Weapon for the first time. I selected Squall, Irvine and Rain (Riona). Ultimate weapons is a must. I juctioned Shiva, Diablos, Carbuncles, Quez, Cerberus to Squall so that he can use auto haste and defend during the battle. I juctioned Ifrit, Tonberry King, Doomtrain and Alexander to Irvine so that he can use initiative and speed+20%. I juctioned GFs of the rest to Rain so that she also have the ability of initiative and speed+40%. I juctioned 100 death to the status attack to all three characters because unfortunately they are all at level 100. I also enabled Luk+50 to two characters.
As soon as the battle began, my party was knocked out by Omega Weapon's LV5 Death. What?! I cannot believe it! Did I make any mistake when I was doing the magic juction part? No time to regret. Thank godness. The Rebirth Flame saved my party. Rain casted Aura to Squall and Irvine casted Meltdown to Omega Weapon. Squall himself was ready to attack Omega Weapon with Renzokuken. At that time Irvine was at his limit break so he was ready to shoot. Whenever Squall couldn't use his limit break, I commanded him either to defend or to revive other characters. Before Omega Weapon cast Medigo Flame, I let Irvine drink Hero and cast meltdown to OW. Rain was sacrificed but soon revived. Two of them survived the Terra Break and were able to use their limit break for the second time. Irvine shot with Demolition Ammos and Pulse Ammos, causing 9999*4 or 9999*5 damage to OW each time. Squall was able to use his Lion Heart once in the first round.
I repeated the combination without hesitation until all the Hero drinks were gone (5 in total, poor guy). My dearest pet Angelo attacked OW twice and the Rebirth Flame saved my party twice (Rain cast Phoenix Pinion once). When I was about to surrender, Squall got the chance to use his limit break one more time and it was hia hia hia hia Lion Heart! The battle came to an end and my party won the prize of Three Stars and 250 AP for all the GFs. At that time, Rain and Irvine remained K.O. and Squall's HP was 1. It was an unbelievable success. I defeated Omega Weapon without using Holy War or Holy War-trial!!! But CC said it was a low probability event. I won only because I tried so many times...That was very disappointing.
Nevermind. I enjoyed the most difficult battle in Final Fantasy VIII -- a good reason to write a review. Then I realized that it is time to say goodbye to all the character: Squall, Rain, Irvine, Selphie, Quistis, Zell, Cid, Matron, Laguna, Kiros, Ward, Raine, Ellone, Seifer, Fujin and Raijin, and all my GFs. |
